What Do Hospice Volunteers Do?

If you are caring, compassionate, and have a desire to help others, becoming a HarmonyCares Hospice volunteer may be the perfect opportunity for you. Our volunteers share their time and talents to offer companionship to our patients while easing the stress that may be felt by their family members during life transitions.

Volunteer support includes companionship and friendly visits for both patients and caregivers. Respite services are also available to allow caregivers to shop, run errands, or to just take a nap with the assurance that a trained volunteer will be with their loved one. We welcome volunteers from a variety of professional backgrounds, and offer tailored programs for people who would benefit from their experience. These programs include pet therapy, cosmetology, massage therapy, music therapy, and a veteran to veteran opportunity through our We Honor Veterans Program.

Volunteers are thoroughly screened and trained, including a criminal background check, finger printing, and a drug screen, before joining the HarmonyCares Hospice team.
